MyWakingVerse is a scripture alarm clock made and maintained by Darryl Sykes as a sole individual operator ("MyWakingVerse," "we," "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information about you. It is written in plain language on purpose — your morning is sacred ground, and you deserve to know exactly what happens to your data before you trust an app with it.
The one-paragraph version
We don't have accounts. We don't run analytics. We don't sell anything to anyone. Your alarms, custom verses, streaks, and reading-plan progress live on your device, and the only time information leaves your device is when you ask the app to fetch Bible text or when you choose to make a donation through Stripe. That's it.
1. Information stored on your device
The following stays on your phone, in the operating system's standard sandboxed app storage. We cannot see it, and it is removed when you uninstall the app or use "Reset all data" in Settings:
- Alarm settings, custom verses, and chosen wake-up wallpapers
- Your streak count and reading-plan progress
- App preferences (theme, sound, notification choices)
2. Information that leaves your device — only when you ask
Bible content
When you open a passage in the reader, the app fetches that passage from a public Bible API. The API receives the verse reference (e.g. "John 3:16") and the standard network metadata your phone sends to any website (IP address, basic user-agent string). We do not attach any personal identifier to those requests.
Donations through Stripe
When you tap "Give," the app opens your device's browser to a hosted Stripe Payment Link. Anything you enter on that page — name, email, card details — is collected and processed entirely by Stripe under Stripe's Privacy Policy. MyWakingVerse never sees or stores your payment information.
3. What we do not collect
- Names, email addresses, or phone numbers — there are no accounts
- Location, contacts, microphone, or camera data
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA / AAID)
- Behavioral analytics or crash telemetry beyond what Apple provides to every developer
4. How notifications work
Alarms fire as local notifications scheduled by your device's operating system. Nothing travels to a server to trigger them. If you deny the notification permission, alarms cannot wake you — please grant it for the app to do its job.
5. Children
MyWakingVerse does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children under 13. Because no personal information is collected, the app is suitable for all ages.
6. Your choices
Because we don't maintain a server-side profile for you, there is no account to delete and no data to export. You can erase everything the app stores at any time by:
- Tapping "Reset all data" in the app's Settings, or
- Uninstalling MyWakingVerse from your device
For donation records, refunds, or to exercise any rights you have under applicable law (such as GDPR or the CCPA), please contact Stripe directly — they are the controller of that payment data.
7. Security
Every network request the app makes — to Bible APIs, to Stripe — is sent over HTTPS. On-device data is stored using the standard sandboxed app storage provided by your operating system. No data security can be guaranteed absolutely, but the app is built so that the surface area where something could leak is intentionally tiny.
8. Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices ever change — for example, if accounts or analytics are introduced — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
